Sixth Blog Assignment: Passion Project Next Steps

Now that you've identified what your passion project is, why you're doing it, and who it's going to benefit, the next step is to articulate what you need to do to get your project off the ground. For example, if you'd like to volunteer at an animal shelter, your next step would be deciding which shelter to volunteer at and to reach out to them. The most effective way to do that would be with either a phone call or an e-mail where you let them know you're available to help, and ask what it is they might actually want help with.
If you're planning to cook or bake items for the local food pantry, your first step would likely be contacting the food pantry to see what items they might want, and then looking up recipes for those items.
For this post, which is due at the end of next class, please state the following in complete sentences:
1) What you're doing for your project.
2) What your next step will be.
3) How or what, specifically, you will do to take that step.
Regardless of your project, you should plan to take your next step (if you haven't already) by the end of November, as your next blog post will involve writing about how your next step went and how your project is developing.

3) If you scored above 30 points, what are two things you do that help you manage your time?
4) If you scored below 30 points, what are two things you might need to modify or change in order to make more effective use of your time and accomplish your priorities?
5) If you had one extra hour in the day to do whatever you wanted, what would you do? Why?

Third Blog Assignment '19: Passion Project Peer Blog Comments

1) Go to bgseminar.blogspot.com

2) Choose any five of your classmates’ blogs to read and leave a comment on.

3) Read the most recent post about your classmates’ passion project idea.

4) Click in the comment window below the blog post and answer the following in one to two sentences per question.
a. Who is the project helping? Who could benefit as a result of this project being completed?
b. How does it appear this project idea allows your classmate to pursue one of their passions? What is it your classmate seems to enjoy or care about?
c. What is your favorite thing about this project idea? What do you like best about it?
d. Which aspect of the project do you think could be most challenging or difficult? Offer one piece of advice or a suggestion that might help your classmate’s project succeed.
e. End your comment with a word of encouragement or positivity.

5) Press “publish” to ensure your comment posts on your classmate’s blog

6) Once you’ve commented on five blogs (you are free to choose from any of the three Grade 9 Seminar blocks), you will post a comment to this blog post with the following information:
a. Your First Name and Last Initial, along with your seminar block (D, F, or G)
b. The names of the five classmates’ blogs you commented on

7) Press “publish.” Note that step #6 is essential for you to get credit for your blog posts. I will then read your comments on your classmates’ blogs to ensure you answered all four questions in one to two sentences and gave helpful feedback.

Example passion project comment response:

Nice idea here Chloe and April. It appears your project will help both veterans and shelter dogs. Excellent! I assume you either care about animals or have an interest in helping veterans, or both. I like this idea because of its specific focus on who it benefits. I also like that it gives you a chance to do some baking - is that one of your interests? I think your goal of raising $200 is realistic. Have you thought about getting permission to sell your baked goods during lunch? As for the donation jars, I would be careful about putting them in places where they could get stolen. I look forward to seeing your project develop!

First Google Site Assignment Fall 2023: Passion Project Topic Contemplation

Take a look at your Genius Hour/Passion Project mind map. Review the possible project ideas you came up with on the back of your mind map. For this your first site post, please write a solid paragraph (at least 5 well-written sentences) about your potential project idea. What are you thinking of doing? What interests, problems, skills, or questions would you like your Passion Project to incorporate? If you're still unsure of what you'd like to do, what are some questions you have? What is making it difficult for you to make a choice? Please feel free to ask me any questions in class so I can help you. Also, don't hesitate to bounce ideas off your classmates as well. Once your paragraph is written, include an image that relates in some way to what you wrote.
